I just started a new, live video podcast. Taking into account Bo's recommendations, and weighing the pro's and cons, I took the plunge. I was a bit more nervous than in a normal podcast - no change for a second take. You just have to try it and make adjustments.

It turns out, I came away feeling pretty good about it - even though my planned co-host had equipment trouble and coultn't join me live... just another pitfall. But I'm looking forward to doing more, and invite others to view or participate with me.

It's at:

Comments are welcome here, too.

Cheers,

Awesome Scott! Wait until you start adding guests, multiple cameras, CamTwist, etc. Gets really "fun" :)

I did use Camtwist, which is great for controlling cameras and screen views. It let me create a few preset configurations:

- Webcam only (just my iSight cam pointing at me - a little too much to take for a whole show)

- Screen-capture only (in case you develop an unsightly nose-bleeds or itches in the middle of a show)

- Picture in Picture (which I used for most of the show, so people see a Powerpoint slide deck with my talking points, and a small window in the corner where people can see me, to maintain a bit of a personal, visual connection with the audience)

Camtwist wasn't that easy to learn, especially for Picture in Picture, but once you have the presets saved, it works pretty well.

I am really looking forward to having co-hosts. I hadn't thought of adding extra cameras, but that could be a very professional addition to the show.
