To make money podcasting you have most likely already thought of finding sponsors for your podcast who would pay you money in exchange for playing a short spot on your podcast or mentioning their product and/or service. But that is just the beginning. As a podcaster, opportunities for income are everywhere -- you just need to know where to look.
There are many opportunities for income with podcasting. Of course, these opportunities are directly related to the quality, popularity and listener base of your podcast. So keep promoting and offer a good show. But don't forget that there is money to be made!

More good ideas, Bo. In fact, some I hadn't thought of yet.
I am doing many of these now. Just today, I did my first live broadcast for paying members only. I think this is a good way to capture premium content for archiving and access by full members, and for resale to non-members.
I used the Ustream option and had it record my session (with password protection on). Then downloaded it and deleted it from Ustream. Now I'm uploading it to an archive for paying members only.

I particularly like the "paypal" idea. We use that for the (so far) sporadic advertising revenue we've generated. A "call out" for donations sounds like it could be a good idea.

Is there an "adsense for podcasters" - services which can automatically merge audio adverts with podcast content to provide revenue for the podcaster?
I use merchandise, premium content, donations, and run a forum.
what a great site too get all the learning for ur self and passing it too friends always good site
I've heard AdSense is a little scammy, and that they can control the content of your page.
Also, is it a little rash to ask for money via pay pal? I feel like it would be nervy of me to do that. What is your take?
AdSense is pretty darn good. Some people are very vocal about AdSense because they try to cheat the system and get caught, so AdSense bans them from their system. You won't hear these stories from the people who speak out against AdSense, just "for no reason AdSense shut me off". AdSense is a simple javascript that displays their ads in the size space you choose - there is no way they can "control" your page.
As for asking for money, PBS has been doing it for years. Not at all nervy to ask for donations. The best of the best in the business do it frequently.
